Signature Research has developed a process for rendering a geometry
model within an specified environment.
The environment is made up of two images, a panoramic and at range image.
These two images are similtaneous and calibrated to the other.
A tool was developed which solves cartographic problem of mapping a rectilinear grid to a hemisphere having an integral ground plane.
The rendering process uses hemispherical integration using material BRDF, calibrated RGB values, and a solar model
to produce an environment-realistic render. The rendered model is inserted into the at range environment image, and
sensor effects are added as needed.
